How To Give Your Website A Festive Make Over

By 14 December 2017No Comments

We’re well into the festive season now and with Christmas just around the corner you’ve probably thinking about ways to spread some holiday cheer. What about giving your website a full-on festive make over? There’s no better and easier way to represent yourself as a cheery holiday business than adding some bells and whistles to your web design.

Where’s Santa Claus?

Ever heard of where’s Wally? Of course you have, well why not create a similar adventure on your website but with Santa Claus? Tell all of your customers and followers on social media about the unexpected visitor on your pages and get them to let you know when they’ve found him. You could even give away a small prize to the fan that finds him first! Think of it like a digital scavenger hunt. Just make sure you hide him well enough so that the game lasts until Christmas.

Holiday social media icons

Spice up your social media icons by framing them with mistletoe, wrapping them in a bow or sprinkling them with glitter. Whatever you think will add that little bit of charm and still embody your brand. You can get pre made icons like this on most graphic and vector websites. But if you’re feeling creative you could make the icons yourself – just open up your favourite design software and away you go. However, you don’t have to stop there – you could also add a bit of festive flare to your business’ logo like a Santa hat, candy cane or Christmas tree.

Christmas countdown

What’s more Christmas spirited than your very own Christmas countdown? Add one to your navigation bar or footer for extra impact. If you have WordPress – you can probably add a widget for this. It’s super easy and simple and shouldn’t cause any havoc with any of your other web design elements. Or if you’re feeling brave why not try and code one yourself?

So those are our top three favourite festive web design ideas for Christmas! Which was your favourite? And which one are you going to implement on your website this holiday season?
